Noor Asiah Dato' Mahmood @ Nonni
The President

 
"As Founder and President of the SMAS Group of Companies, Nonni's foray into the tourism industry was built through sheer tenacity that included decades of persistence and sterling corporate governance."

In more ways than one, the career of Nonni Dato' Mahmood, the President, revolves around travel and tourism. She received her early training in tourism as a graduate from Pan Am School of Aviation, Miami and has served in several sectors of the industry such as the Malaysian Airlines, Hotel Equatorial as Public Relation and Sales Executive.

In 1979, Nonni ventured into business on her own with the establishment of SMAS Travels Sdn. Bhd. Under her evident leadership, she formed and expanded the SMAS Group of Companies with its core business focus on tourism.

SMAS Rent-A-Car and Limousine, Residence® Hotel & Resorts, Residence® Resort Paka, Residence® Hospitality Training Centre, Destination Masters, Worldspan Malaysia, Smascom, etc. are some of the core activities of the SMAS Group.

In 1989, she took helm as the Vice-President of Matta (Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Agents). Nonni also sits on board of a Public Listed Company.Today, Nonni is expanding her experience and expertise in the Hospitality Industry on an International scale.


Nyak Rohana Ariff @ Rohanna Ramli

Managing Director



Rohanna has over 30 years experience in the Hotel Industry. This includes her 13 years career with Hilton International Hotel chain since 1972. She then joined the Pan Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur as Director of Sales & Marketing, one of the key pioneers in the pre-opening stage of the hotel.

Rohanna was trained in Hotel Management at the Career Development Institute, Queen Elizabeth Hilton in Montreal, Canada in 1977. She had also attended several training programmes organized by Hilton International and Pan Pacific groups, that include the Advance Management Course for Asian Managers conducted by the Graduate School of Management and the University of Melbourne in 1989.

She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the US, Canada and other Asian regions since 1975 in her capacity as Director of Sales & Marketing. In 1992, she was made the first lady President of the International Affiliated Skal Club of Kuala Lumpur.

In the same year, Rohanna was promoted to the post of Executive Assistant Manager of Puteri Pan Pacific Hotel Johor Bahru, a 500-room hotel with seven Restaurants and Bars, taking charge of the daily hotel operations and was the hotel's acting General Manager for 6 months.

In April 1994, she was promoted to head the Pan Pacific Hotel and Resorts Malaysia, Central Marketing Office, as their National Director of Marketing, with responsibilities of marketing for Pan Pacific Hotels in Malaysia.


She brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise and has excellent working relationships and contacts with the travel trade industry, the Government, International and Local corporate business markets.

In 1995, Rohanna was appointed Member of the Tourism Board by the then Minister of Culture, Arts & Tourism, a post she held for two terms.



Chiew Chung Yee

Director



Mr. Chiew is an architect by profession and manages an architectural practice in Sarawak.

In the course of work on hotel designs, Chiew has gained invaluable insights into the Hotel Industry from operations to management style, developing original concepts to the day to day running of the establishment.

He is in an excellent position to advice on prospective client and architectural components and requirements of any building.


Chai Vui Yu

Director



Chai is an interior designer, managing his own interior design consultancy firm; Uniterior Design & Associates in Kuching with branches in Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai, China.

His outstanding interior designs, among others; prominently the Office of the Chief Minister of Sarawak and the state's Dewan Undangan Negeri, have accorded him with the Ahli Bintang Sarawak award? in 1992.

Well versed in the areas of design and interior of hotels and resorts worldwide, Chai plays a major role and contributes extensively towards the effectiveness of RHR.

A member of the A.I.P.D. since 1979 and A.S.I.D. (Singapore) since 1980.
